Digital support in 2026: how can a website be funded in Charente?

Public support is available to small businesses in Charente, but it is not an automatic cheque that reimburses any website. Here is what is actually offered in 2026, who to contact, and what to prepare before the first meeting.

The short answer: support for a pathway, not a promise of reimbursement

As of 30 August 2026, the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region and CCI Charente present the “Défis numériques” programme as a funded pathway: a diagnosis, an action plan, then tailored support. The local page announces up to four days of work with no charge left to the business, subject to eligibility and approval of the application.

That funding does not mean an agency’s website invoice will automatically be reimbursed. The official pages distinguish chamber-led support from a possible grant considered after diagnosis. Before signing a website quote, ask the adviser exactly what the programme will fund in your circumstances.

The official pathway

Diagnosis first, implementation support second

CCI Charente separates the two phases clearly. The announced no-cost funding applies to this support pathway, subject to eligibility.

2 to 4 daysAnnounced total pathway
  1. Phase 011 day

    Diagnosis and action plan

Review of current practice, roadmap, and selection of up to three challenges.

  2. Phase 021 to 3 days

    Tailored implementation support

Work on the selected challenges after the diagnosis has been approved.

The total pathway includes meetings and administrative time. It is not an automatic agreement to reimburse a website invoice.

Check the three criteria before building the application

The regional programme targets businesses registered with the Registre national des entreprises, with fewer than ten employees and turnover below two million euros. CCI Charente lists very small and small businesses that meet these thresholds; the adviser remains the person who confirms effective admission to the programme.

The first contact is the digital adviser at the department’s chamber: the CCI for many commercial and service activities, or the CMA for craft businesses. The adviser checks the criteria, explains the pathway and, where appropriate, sends the Mes Démarches Simplifiées link and the required declarations.

Published eligibility

Three criteria before the need is assessed

These thresholds define the regional programme’s intended audience. The chamber’s digital adviser still has to confirm admission.

3 criteriaPublished regional baseline
  1. StatusRNE

    Registered business

The business must be registered with the Registre national des entreprises.

  2. Headcount< 10

    Fewer than ten employees

The threshold applies to the very small business’s workforce.

  3. Turnover< €2m

    Turnover below two million euros

Annual turnover must remain under the published ceiling.

The CCI or CMA adviser confirms admission and can suggest another form of support if the application does not fit.

Choose challenges that match the company’s actual need

The programme covers seven areas: web presence, search visibility and communications, online sales, customer relationships, management tools, cybersecurity, and digital sobriety. The diagnosis is used to select up to three challenges and the useful level, from a first Business Profile to a brochure website or online store.

For a shop in Angoulême, the first need might be an accurate business listing and a website that answers local searches. For a producer or craft business elsewhere in Charente, it might be presenting a range, receiving qualified enquiries, or preparing online sales. Website design is therefore not the mandatory starting point; it is one possible answer to a defined objective.

Map of options

The diagnosis selects three challenges from seven

A website is only one option in a broader programme. Selection should follow the business problem, not a list of services to buy.

3 of 7Challenges selected at diagnosis
  1. 01

    Build a web presence

Business Profile, directories, social channels, and a brochure website.

  2. 02

    Be seen online

Search visibility, content, and digital acquisition.

  3. 03

    Turn digital into business

Marketplaces, e-commerce, and online sales services.

  4. 04

    Develop customer relationships

Email campaigns, customer records, and loyalty.

  5. 05

    Equip operations

Invoicing, indicators, inventory, ERP, or customer relationship management.

  6. 06

    Secure the digital environment

    Awareness, risk assessment, and compliance.

  7. 07

    Move towards digital sobriety

Understand, measure, then reduce the largest impacts.

Each challenge has several levels. The diagnosis chooses the useful level instead of automatically aiming for the heaviest solution.

  • Win on the web: Business Profile, directories, brochure website.
  • Be seen online: search visibility, content, acquisition.
  • Turn digital into business: marketplaces or e-commerce.
  • Improve customer relationships, operations, security, or digital sobriety.

Bring one page of facts to the meeting, not a feature catalogue

The adviser can understand the project faster if you bring a short description of the activity, the current problem, and the intended result. Note the tools already used, available access, existing content, and the people who will approve the work. A screenshot of the old site or three recent customer requests are more useful than a list of technical terms.

Then prepare no more than three priorities. For example: be found for “electrician Angoulême”, show completed work, and receive a complete enquiry. The website project brief template helps capture those points without forcing you to choose the technology alone.

  • Activity, actual service area, and type of customer.
  • A problem visible today and the intended result.
  • Existing website, Business Profile, social accounts, domain, and access.
  • Three priorities, a possible budget, and a useful date.
  • Company number, headcount, turnover, and documents requested by the adviser.

Separate the support, the website budget, and life after launch

One-off support does not make a project sustainable if hosting, maintenance, content, or paid tools have not been costed. Ask for the initial and recurring costs separately, then identify who owns the domain, accounts, data, and delivered files.

Compare scope rather than total alone: pages, content, forms, local search work, audience measurement, training, and support after publication. An estimate can provide an initial order of magnitude; the final decision should rely on a quote that explains its assumptions and limits.

  • Initial cost and annual costs separated.
  • Deliverables, content, and review rounds identified.
  • Domain and accounts opened in the business’s name.
  • Maintenance, backups, and support described after launch.

The safest order of steps in Charente

Start with CCI Charente’s current “Défis numériques 2025-2026” page or the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region’s funding guide. Then contact the digital adviser at your chamber and obtain written confirmation of eligibility, the funded part, and the steps that must be completed before any spending.

Once the need is clear, turn the roadmap into a realistic project: available content, remaining budget, schedule, and ongoing operation. If you want to convert that diagnosis into a website scope, write to the studio with the roadmap and the three priorities selected.

  • 1. Read the current official page, not an old summary article.
  • 2. Contact the CCI or CMA adviser before committing spending.
  • 3. Obtain written confirmation of eligibility and funding.
  • 4. Scope the website, compare quotes, and only then sign.
Common questions

The remaining decisions

Does Nouvelle-Aquitaine directly reimburse a business website?

The official pages checked on 30 August 2026 primarily describe a funded diagnosis and support pathway. They do not promise automatic reimbursement of a website invoice. Any possible grant depends on the application review: confirm the amount, eligible spending, and order of steps before signing.

Who should a business in Charente contact?

The regional guidance names the departmental chamber’s digital adviser as the entry point. Depending on the activity, contact CCI Charente or the Chambre de métiers et de l’artisanat; they will check the criteria and suggest the appropriate pathway.

Can the business freely choose the agency that builds the website?

The support pathway and the website build are separate decisions. Ask the adviser whether provider costs are eligible, whether competing quotes are required, and whether the supplier must meet any conditions. Never treat the choice as approved without written confirmation.

Put the guide against a real project.

A few lines are enough: context, the main constraint, and the expected result.
